| Establishing a Chess Club | |
SACA is happy to provide assistance in the formation of new clubs. Check with your local Council as they may be able to assist in supplying a room in a local venue at a reasonable nightly cost. They may also be able to offer establishment support with a one off grant towards chess boards and chess clocks. Your local member of Parliament may also be able to offer support in the startup phase or during significant Club events held during the year. An established chess club may also be able to provide a mentor to call on for advice. You can advertise your Club on the SACA website, in postings on community notice boards and in articles in your local newspaper. Entering a team in the InterClub or Pennant competitions may also attract new members. You may wish to adapt the sample calendar below and make use some of the accompanying files. A license for the tournament pairing program, Swiss Perfect, may be obtained free for Club use from the Australian Chess Federation. |
