Welcome to the exciting world of chess!

Welcome to the new official website for the SA Chess Association.

LATEST NEWS:

David Smerdon wins the Freytag Checkmate Open tournament with a score of 6.5/7. The Challengers tournament was won in a three way tie by Pavel Turcaj, Zachary Searle and Fabian Ivancic.

Mato Jelic wins the July Rapid with 5/6.

Daniela Nutu-Gajic is the new vice-president in charge of women's chess. If you have suggestions for tournaments or other events, e-mail her, and she can help organise them.

The Chess Centre (10 Ranelagh St, Adelaide, near Light Square) is usually open on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7pm - late. Tuesday nights are usually reserved for regular organised events such as State Championships and the Interclub Matches while Thursday nights are kept for casual games.

The SA Junior League usually makes full use of the Chess Centre on Fridays - immediately after-school for primary school matches and in the evenings for Secondary Matches.

Everyone is very welcome to visit the Chess Centre - there is no charge unless you want to play a game and if that is in the Interclub matches it is usually $8 per night (or $6 on presentation of a full time student, a pensioner or an unemployed concession card) while the cost on casual nights is just $5.
